Once a month I get a report telling me how many times someone clicked on a post, and a few friends comment from time to time if they feel moved by the subject. It is always nice to hear from friends or strangers, even those offering constructive criticism, but in truth, as I have said before, I write for my own sake--selfish no doubt, but a necessary outlet. Once in a great while it feels like a self-imposed tyranny--the product of writer's block. But most of the time the subjects and the words are there to be summoned and writing these weekly posts keeps my language skills, my writing muscles such as they are, limbered up.

So, thank you to those who read these posts whether you comment or not. As much as it is my own form of therapy it is also a way of staying in touch. Which brings me to the point of this particular missive. I am in need of time to recharge. Living life has been somewhat bumpy this year --as I know it has been for many. Over a year ago we planned a trip with good friends and despite some hiccups that may await anyone who travels these days we are looking forward to meeting new people, learning new things and laughing----a lot. Once in a while we need to fill the cup so we have something to pour.

The consequence is silence for a time, but I will return, filled I hope with lots to talk about. Till then, I wish you joy, peace and good fortune.
